South Jersey Man, 64, Arrested In Sexual Assaults Of 2 Boys: Prosecutor

A 64-year-old man from Camden County has been arrested in connection with the sexual assaults of two boys in Cape May County, authorities said.

Charged in the assaults was William Smith Jr. of Pine Hill, according to Cape May Prosecutor Jeffrey H. Sutherland alongside Chief Anthony Garreffi Jr. of the Sea Isle City Police Department.

In February 2023, an investigation was initiated by Sea Isle City police and the Cape May County Prosecutor’s Office Special Victims Unit after two juvenile males reported being sexually assaulted by Smith Jr. in a residence in Sea Isle City, they said.

As a result of this investigation, on Wednesday, March 29, 2023, Smith Jr. was charged with two counts of sexual assault and three counts of child endangerment, they said.

Smith Jr. was being held at the Cape May County Correctional Center.
